ZeroDev’s Today and Tomorrow: A Look at 2025

2025 was the year the wallet faded into the background, and that is exactly what we have been working toward since day one. At ZeroDev, the mission has always been to make onchain applications feel just like the apps people use every day, stripping away the friction of gas fees, seed phrases, and fragmented chains.

Reflecting on the past twelve months, it is clear that we advanced tools designed for a new era of “invisible web3.”

A Year of Hyper-Growth

It’s been a whirlwind. From protocol breakthroughs to new partnerships, here are the milestones that shaped the year:

Q1: The Era of the Modular Account

Early in the year, we doubled down on ERC-7579 and contributed to the push for modular smart accounts within the broader evolution of account abstraction on Ethereum.

Q2: Scaling the Infrastructure

As the user base expanded across many supported networks, we continued scaling infrastructure for developers building through the ZeroDev documentation and SDK. The platform is designed to plug into EVM ecosystems such as Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Base

Q3: Expanding Smart Accounts in Practice

During the third quarter, the focus shifted toward turning smart account primitives into production-ready features used at scale. We formalized Smart Routing Address as a core capability of the ZeroDev platform, consolidating prior functionality under a clearer abstraction and making it easier for applications to route transactions across chains and execution paths without exposing complexity to end users.

A New Chapter with Offchain Labs

In one of the defining milestones in the company’s history, ZeroDev was acquired by Offchain Labs, the team behind Arbitrum, Prysm and Tandem. Formally announced on Aug. 12, this strategic move aligns ZeroDev’s smart account infrastructure with Offchain Labs’ broader ecosystem for onchain applications.

“By joining forces with Offchain Labs, we have put ZeroDev’s modular stack at the heart of one of the most vibrant ecosystems in web3,” says Derek Chiang, Founder of ZeroDev. “Our goal remains the same: to make smart accounts the default for every user, on every chain.”

Q4: A New Identity

We closed the year by unveiling an updated website and documentation experience at zerodev.app, reflecting an evolution from an account abstraction toolkit to a broader Smart Account Platform.

By the Numbers: Impact in 2025

ZeroDev expanded its network footprint rapidly, adding support for nearly 50 new chains and testnets and ended the year with compatibility across over 75 active networks. Enterprise adoption accelerated throughout the year as well, with new commercial integrations landing across exchanges, L2 ecosystems, DeFi platforms, gaming networks, and financial infrastructure providers. This growth supported the continued rollout of passkey onboarding, social logins, and account abstraction tooling documented throughout the ZeroDev platform.

2026: The Year of the Autonomous User

Looking ahead to 2026, the focus shifts toward intent-based infrastructure. The industry is moving toward models in which users authorize intents rather than raw transactions. ZeroDev's roadmap includes investing resources in session-key-based automation and agentic workflows that fit within the broader blockchain landscape.

Looking to 2026

None of this would be possible without the developers, partners, and community members who believe that web3 should be powerful yet invisible. Whether the journey started in the early days of building the Kernel within ZeroDev, or at the moment of joining the Offchain Labs family, that shared belief continues to drive our work forward.

The account abstraction transformation is no longer a roadmap item. It is underway.
